Excellent question!!!
Actually it's very different: with Castopod your podcast IS your social network. All interactions (likes, shares, comments) come back to YOUR Castopod's instance. Not to someone else's server. With Castopod there is no middleman between your podcast and your audience.

Hey, Castopod v1.6 was just released! 🚀📦
[EDITING IMPROVEMENTS]
👀 You can now preview and share your episode before publishing it!
+ your usual bug fixes 🙂
As always, you may grab Castopod - for free - on https://castopod.org
@tek_dmn We'll update the documentation to make that clearer.
Thank you for your feedback.
@tek_dmn When you run the installation wizard it asks you your domain name, then writes it down to the .env file.
@tek_dmn You shouldn't update the code.
The .env file is where the home url is defined.
@pax @feditips @funkwhale @anreji You can buy one from https://castopod.com
@feditips @pax @funkwhale For people who are fine with self-hosting there is also @Castopod which is podcasting specific and seems promising :)
We just published the initial package for @Castopod ready for testing everyone :)
As always, report package bugs at https://forum.cloudron.io/category/172/castopod

I did see that Whisper was available as a free software package to run locally, and from time to time I tried to look into this and to get it working. But I never had any luck.
Until yesterday, when I read a blogpost from @Castopod. Finally someone who explained it in terms that even I could understand. https://blog.castopod.org/transcribe-your-podcast-for-free-using-only-a-laptop-and-whisper/
After following instructions and downloading at least 10 GB of data, I gave it a try, and it worked! It worked amazingly!
A big thank you and shout out to the team at @Castopod for migrating my podcast from self-hosted to Castopod.com. Seamless transition and the RSS feed didn’t even change!
