Here is my presentation about the Open Web and Podcasting 2.0 I delivered at the Festival del Podcasting in Italy. I translated the slides and added presentator’s notes in English.
It’s available as a zip file containing Keynote, PowerPoint and PDF formats. Free to use for anybody.

Thanks to @benjaminbellamy , on whose presentation and slides a lot of this is based.

The Transcript tag will provide better discoverability, better accessibility, better searchability.
Every platform and every podcast app should be using it.

For the past 30 years, Internet was developed with hyperlinks, […] except for podcasting. […] So we think there is a need for a recommendation tag which will allow podcasters to say: “If you liked this podcast, if you liked this episode, or if you liked this chapter, probably you should listen to this other one”. […] There are many reasons why you would want, as a podcaster, to recommend another podcast, or episode, or chapter, or anything else.

With cross-app comments using ActivityPub, podcasters don't have to delegate interactions with their audience to a third party social media site anymore.
Cut out the middleman.
Stay in control.
The podcast IS the social network.
