We successfully made it run on the smallest VPS we could find (~3€/mo).
Keep in mind that podcasting is mainly about serving static RSS and MP3 files… 😉
Of course if you have thousands of listeners (which we hope you'll get) you will probably have to upgrade.
We also recommend using Redis cache. And a CDN can also help.

@framasoft @Castopod a l'air d'un superbe projet : le site, la documentation, et @benjaminbellamy semble avoir une réflexion très éclairée sur l'éco-système du podcast et les attentes des créateurs
Quant au financement du contenu et des créateurs, je trouve que le projet https://mitra.social de @silverpill explore des pistes en développant une plateforme #ActivityPub (donc fédérée) exploitant les possibilités d'#ethereum pour permettre le contenu payant ou l'abonnement (un peu comme Patreon)
