Castopod :podcasting2: boosted

In 2020, Podcasting 2.0 introduced the transcript tag after Apple had declined any changes for 15 years.

However, in 2024, Apple finally adopted the Podcasting 2.0 transcript tag for Apple Podcasts.

Beyond being a commendable and fair move by Apple, this marks a significant victory for open ecosystems, for podcasting as a whole, and for the Podcasting 2.0 initiative.

It is our duty to celebrate this achievement, and it is my honor to do so at FOSDEM 2025.

@rmondello It’s one of the best things about the Fediverse — the freedom to choose your own software and still communicate with everyone else, no matter what they're using. I'm happy with Mastodon (with @ivory as the client), but other people can choose a different client or use Misskey, Pleroma, @pixelfed (for photos), @peertube (for videos), @Castopod (for podcasts) or a number of other things. Even then we can still engage with each other. That’s a very refreshing notion if you ask me.

🇪🇺 The Next Generation Internet (NGI) programme, vital for Europe’s digital sovereignty, is missing from Horizon Europe’s 2025 draft.
Since 2020, NGI has funded over 500 projects, including Castopod, supporting free software and digital commons.
Its removal threatens innovation, collaboration, and the sustainability of Europe’s open-source ecosystem.
NGI has proven essential for fostering technological independence and interoperability.
